Literature Text

ah, but what price parlaying with oblivion?
it cost a piece of me.
the brilliant part of my childhood,
the glimmer of innocence,
the magic and wonder of a new world.

floating motes of dust drifted like a sea of stars
in the shafts of light that came through the blinds.
the swaying trees outside the window danced for me.
the spider webs in the window pane glistened
like silver threads in a dream.

all that is gone
except for the half remembered dream.
a child bravely sails into darkness.
was it naiveté or arrogance?
courage born of necessity?

what did i gain from my time
in the place of forgetfulness?
a shred of wisdom,
the key to secrets,
a tattered and worn map
to guide me through the labyrinth
of you.

my eyes were changed.
darker though they see more.
blinded to wonder,
now i see secrets
kept in the dark places.

my secret is what i keep
locked away in the deepest vaults
of my heart.
that im lost
and seeking
my way back
to being that child
again.
its a poem.
